True cheese institution, La Vache à Maillotte is the ideal destination for every foodie. Being the northernmost cheese shop in the province of Quebec, the cold nights and warm days of Abitibi give a typical taste, slightly sweet and unique, to the cow and sheep’s milk they use. Their specialty? The famous fresh cheddar, in cheese curds, blocks or “tortillons”. Let yourself be tempted by their fine cheeses, rewarded numerous times, such as the “Allegretto”, a parmesan type cheese of international renown made from sheep milk, or the “Fredondaine”, often compared to Oka cheese. On site, you will also find a ready-to-eat lunch counter and multiple local treasures!
